Hui ‘Ilio Hawai’i Presents The 8th Annual Hawai’i Kai Dog Walk Sunday, June 3, 2012 – 7:30am
Bring your dog and join the fun at the Hawai’i Kai Dog Walk on June 3rd at the Hawai’i Kai Park and Ride. It’s a 2.3-mile walk through beautiful Hawai’i Kai, with a mini-route available for smaller and older dogs.
The fun continues inside the Hawai’i Kai Dog Park before and after the walk. Some of the event sponsors will be on hand to pass out free goodies and some will provide a game or activity to add to the festivities. There will be doggie pools for the pooches to cool down after the walk.
The dog walk starts and ends at the Hawai’i Kai Park and Ride on Keahole Street, makai parking lot. Check-in starts at 6:30 am. Paws hit the pavement at 7:30 am. Enjoy the activities and information booths. Get a free photo souvenir photo.
All participants who pre-register by MAY 18th get a free dog walk t-shirt and a tote bag filled with goodies. The registration fee is $20. Download a registration form at http://www.hui-ilio.org. You can also register on the morning of the walk. A free t-shirt and goodie bag are included while supplies last but not guaranteed for walk-ins.
This year we are also collecting gifts for homeless animals. Collars, leashes, grooming supplies, dog food and other supplies are needed. Visit www.hui-ilio.org to see our complete wish list.
The dog walk organizer, Hui ‘Ilio Hawai’i, is the local non-profit group that joined in a public-private partnership with the Department of Parks and Recreation to build the Hawai’i Kai Dog Park. Hui ‘Ilio continues to support the dog park as Adopt-a-Park partners.
The event’s purpose is to bring the community together to promote public dog parks, responsible dog ownership, and to encourage a healthy life-style for dogs and their people.
